The European Senior Games will be organized from September 7 to 12, 2009. The Dutch province of Zeeland expects to host around 3500 athletes. The sports competitions will take place in virtually every municipality of the province. Sporters aged 50 and up from all over Europe, but also from other parts of the world, will participate in 22 different branches of sports. The athletes will be divided into age brackets of 5 years (50-54, 55-59, 60-64, etc).
The Senior Games will be organized with the close cooperation of the selected national sports committees and the support of NOC*NSF.
The organization is in the hands of the 2009 Senior Games Foundation, located in Middelburg.
